Bawani Shetty

  • Bawani Shetty’s dance journey at the Temple of Fine Arts commenced in the year 1987. Blessed with innate talents and being passionate about dance has made her to ease in with the various dance styles taught at the Temple of Fine Arts
  • Her dance experience has been greatly enriched through her active participation in numerous significant dance drama productions and cultural performances presented by the Temple of Fine Arts.
  • She has travelled extensively to East Malaysia, Bangkok, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the United States for performances. She has also performed in numerous government shows, assisted in choreographing the India segments, and taken charge of most of the corporate shows in which TFA participates.
  • Her repertoire of study and experience spans from Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak and Folk dances. She had participated in a folk dance workshop that was offered by the Chandigarh University in Punjab.
  • Bawani is a Bharatanatyam graduate of the Temple of Fine Arts,  winning high acclaim for her commendable presentation
  • Currently she is teaching Bollywood at the Temple of Fine Arts

Gowri Ramachandran

  • Gowri is one of TFA’s leading home grown talents and has been an integral part of the institution, serving the Temple of Fine Arts with a strong sense of devotion and commitment. She started learning Bharatanatyam from Sri V.K.Sivadas and Srimathi Vatsala Sivadas at the tender age of 4 and followed her Gurus to TFA when TFA was inaugurated in 1981. Having been trained in Bharatanatyam and Indian folk styles by legendary masters, V.K.Sivadas and Gopal Shetty, Gowri has performed in every major production of the institution. She completed her Bharatanatyam graduation in December 1990. She also played the heroine’s role in TFA’s production, Lady White Snake and has danced in India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
  • In 1992, Gowri was selected to be trained in Odissi under Guru Geetha Shankaran Lam. Since then, Gowri has performed Odissi in TFA’s major productions and cultural events. In 2001, Gowri together with 3 others did her Odissi Debut (Manchpravesh) and has been contributing to the growth of Odissi in TFA.
  • Gowri has attended Odissi workshops conducted by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Gajendra Panda, Ramli Ibrahim, Leesa Mohanty, Guru Durga Charan Ranbir and Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, son of the legendary master, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
  • Since January 2013, Gowri has been undergoing Odissi training with Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, visiting Odisha occasionally to further enhance her training in Odissi. In 2014 Gowri undertook the Sangeet Visharad Final exams in Odissi (equivalent to Graduate qualification) Placed 1st division and got a distinction in Theory. In 2017 she undertook the Sangeet Bhaskar Final exams in Odissi (equivalent to Post-Graduate qualification. Placed 2nd division and got a distinction in Theory.
  • Together with Sumathi Chandra, Gowri has trained and presented 7 students to do Manch Pravesh (graduation) in Odissi. Over the years Gowri has trained students to dance Odissi for various Odissi productions such as Samashraya(2012), Diksha(2014), Dvitva(2017) & PadmaPurush for SFA 2019, Pragati 1 (2022), Pragati 2 (2024), Cooperate shows and TFA in-house shows.
  • Gowri also teaches dance theory to Bharatanatyam students and assists with setting and compiling the BN theory syllabus. Currently Gowri teaches Odissi in TFA KL and heads the Odissi department in TFA KL.

JT Choong

  • He graduated under the tutelage of Smt. Vatsala Sivadas in 1994 and started his journey as a Bharatanatyam teacher in 1995.
  • JT made his entrance into arts scene as a solo performer with “Siva Sakti” in 2001 and “Rasaanubhava” in 2006
  • Besides Bharatanatyam, JT also trained under other classical dance forms such as Odissi & Kathak. To enhance his dance education, he spent a month sojourn in Bali, Indonesia to learn Balinese dance “Kebyar Duduk” from the greatest living legend exponent of the dance Guru Ida Bagus Oka Wirjana in 2005. He has also trained under the tutelage of Hajijah Yaacob in the form of Malay Classical dances & Rhythm Tap from Mr Toh Kong Eu
  • Besides the Nrityanjali title in Bharatanatyam, he also has been awarded as the Best Male Dancer a course on Malay traditional dancers conducted for the government school teachers in 1994 and Gopala Shiva Shanta Natya Yogeswara in 2006
  • He had a short stint teaching at the TFA Malacca branch from 1999 – 2002. In 2005, JT shared his knowledge with the dance students of ASWARA which lasted for six years. Apart from this, he also conducted a crash course in Bharatanatyam for JKKN dancers in Penang, Pulau Pangkor, Pahang, Malacca, & Johor Bahr. JT had judged the One Malaysia dance competition in Sibu, Sarawak & sat as a jury for the Festival Kebudayaan Universiti-Universiti Malaysia in December 2010.
  • A firm believer in continuous learning, J.T. learnt Carnatic violin from Smt. Kanagamani Vijayendra and veena from Sri Kishan Narasimhan & had attended three levels of Tanjak folding workshop conducted by Dr Johan Iskandar.
  • He is currently teaching Bharatanatyam & Creative Dance at the Temple of Fine Arts

Kasthoori Ramanaidu

  • The journey began when her mother, Mrs. Narayanamah S Ramanaidu, who was interested in dance herself, enrolled her two daughters, Kasthoori Ramanaidu & Thachayani Ramanaidu in Temple of Fine Arts in April 1982. Their first Bharatanatyam teacher was Shrimati Radha Gopal Shetty. She went on to complete the Grade 4 (Final Stage) of the dance exam at the Temple of Fine Arts and did her arangetram along with her sister and awarded “Nrityaanjali” under the able guidance of Kumari Suryakala in Kuala Lumpur on the 27th March 1994. In February 1996, they received their Graduation Certificate at the International Graduation Ceremony held in Chennai.
  • She has also learnt Odissi & Folk dance, & actively participated in various shows locally & abroad
  • By the grace of Swami Shantanand Saraswathi, Kasthoori was offered a scholarship by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) to do Kuchipudi Dance and successfully completed her training in Kuchipudi at the Academy on 12th January 2003, under the great Kuchipudi maestro Guru Padma Bhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. She was awarded with the title “Natya Visharadha” by the Kuchipudi Art Academy of Chennai.
  • She has been awarded ‘Nrityaanjali’ in Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 1994, 2003 – Kuchipudi  Rangapravesam ‘Natya Visharadha’, 2006 – Honoured ‘Malaysia Kuchipudi Sisters’ by Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM), 2011 – Best Kuchipudi Dancer by Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) on Youth Convention 2011, PWTC, 2013 – Excellence in the Art (Kuchipudi) by MIC National Arts & Culture Bereau for the contribution and service towards Kuchipudi Dance, 2014 – Excellence in the Arts ‘Natya Kalai Arasi by Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, 2016 – Yuva Kalarathna by Department of Language & Cultural, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, 2023 – Nadana Sigamani, Master Ganesan, 2025 – Cultural Preservasionist by TAM Mahila.
  • She has directed Kuchipudi shows like “Bhamane Satyabhamane”(2008), “Vande Jagat Guru”(2012), “Kuchipudi Nritya Samarpanam”(2013), “ Rukmini Kalyanam”(2014), “Vempati Nartanam”(2017), “Narayana”(2019), “Ranggula Puvvulu”(2022), “Krishnaamrutham”(2024).
  • She has also conducted a Ranggavapravesham(kuchipudi arangetram) for her student.
  • Kasthoori currently teaches Kuchipudi at the Temple of Fine Arts Malaysia and is the Head of the Kuchipudi Department in TFA. She also teaches Bharatanatyam and continues to undergo Odissi dance lessons at TFA.

Kumar Supramaniam

  • Kumar started his dance journey at the Temple Of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Shrimathi Vatsala Sivadas at the age of 17
  • His repertoire of study and experience spans from Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Bollywood and Folk dances
  • He has taken part in various Temple of Fine Arts dance performances and workshops and has performed in many countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and India.
  • He has about 15 year’s yoga experience around Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Kumar graduated in Bachelor of Science in Yoga & Naturopathy Sciences from Thiruvaluvar University India.
  • He has been awarded Honorary Doctorate in Yoga & Naturopathy Sciences
  • Kumar is also the President of the Yoga Sports Association Singapore which is the affiliated member of Asian yoga federation
  • Currently Kumar is teaching Yoga at the Temple Of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Penang

Pankhuri Agrawal

  • Pankhuri Agrawal is an Engineer by profession and a Dancer by passion, seamlessly blending analytical precision with artistic expression. A First Class Honours graduate in Master of Engineering Project Management from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and recipient of the Dean’s Merit Award, she currently serves as the Head of Central PMO & QA at a leading Japanese IT firm, where she drives governance excellence, quality transformation, and organizational impact.
  • Her artistic journey began at the age of six with Bharatanatyam at the Temple of Fine Arts. What started as childhood curiosity evolved into a lifelong devotion to the performing arts, expanding into Odissi, Kathak, Folk, and Bollywood. Over the years, she has performed in numerous acclaimed dance, music, and theatre productions across Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and India, some of which have been nominated for and awarded the prestigious BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. Her dedication to mastery led her to complete her solo Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 2007 under the guidance of Vasuki Thiruchittampalam, followed by her solo Odissi Manchapravesh in 2017 under the tutelage of Sumathi Chandra, Gowri Chandran, and Guru Ratikant Mohapatra.
  • Since 2011, Pankhuri has been a Bharatanatyam educator at the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, renowned for conceptualizing and producing distinctive, memorable Navratri performances. Beyond the stage and boardroom, she gracefully balances her roles as a mother, performing artist and choreographer.
  • To Pankhuri, dance is more than movement, it is a powerful medium of expression, storytelling, and transformation. Guided by this belief and strengthened by her coaching certifications, she is committed to empowering change, nurturing future generations, and bringing innovation and purpose to both the corporate and cultural landscapes she serves.

Purnima Segaran

  • Financial Analyst by profession, began her dance journey at the tender age of 6 at the Temple of Fine Arts and has been professionally trained as an Indian classical dancer for the past 22 years.
  • She began her lessons in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Master Madhavan and later Shrimathi Shymala Narayanan & Shri Shankar Kandasamy. She completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 2009 and was given the sacred title of “Nrityanjali”.
  • A few years later, she went on to learn Odissi from Shrimathi Geetha Shankaran-Lam while participating in many of the in-house performances and external events organized by the government. Now, she continues her Odissi lessons with Shrimathi Sumathi Chandra and Shrimathi Gowri Chandran.
  • Shortly after that, she pursued her interest in learning Kathak from Shrimathi Vidhya Nagendran and Sitar from Shri Kumar Karthigesu. Over the years she has been a part of shows organized by the Temple of Fine Arts namely Kadhambari, Natya Rang, Reflections, Chalo Shaadi Karenge, Swan Festival of Lights and Shantanand Festival of Arts.
  • Currently, she is a part-time Bharatanatyam teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts KL and also actively continuing to perform and learn.

Sharmini Sivadas

  • Joined the Temple Of Fine Arts in the year 1990 as a music teacher & have been tutoring piano & performing for the past 36 years.
  • Qualified with a Trinity London’s ATCL  Diploma in Piano performance and a gd 8 ABRSM graduate of Piano
  • She also received a performing Grant by ASTRO  2007
  • Organized performances in Temple of Fine Arts such as Dinner theatre (Mela), “Music of the Heart”, “Soul Variations” in year 2006, “Just a Moment” in year 2010, “Revelations” school concert in year 2011, “Forte” in year 2014, “Pranati” 2016 Divertimento June 2019 & 2020, “KEYS” concert September 2023.
  • Sharmini is currently heading the Piano Department at the Temple of Fine Arts KUALA LUMPUR

Hariraam Tingyuan Lam

  • Both a Bharathanatyam and Carnatic Violin graduate of the Temple of Fine Arts, KUALA LUMPUR, and has been a student and a frequent performer in Odissi, Carnatic Vocal, Drama, Folk dance and semi-classical dance and music styles
  • A disciple of Shrimathi Kanagamani, TFA’s Senior Carnatic Violin Guru, Hari had undergone a 1-year Carnatic Violin course under the guidance of Violin Maestro, Padmabushan Shri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman in the year 2010 and continues to attend classes with his son, Shri Lalgudi GJR Krishnan till today
  • Has participated in many in-house, local & international productions and prestigious festivals – Citrawarna (KUALA LUMPUR), Shantanand Festival of Arts (KUALA LUMPUR), ‘Violin Vaibhavam’ (Chennai, India), Rainforest World Music Festival (Kuching), Borneo Jazz Festival (Miri), Darbar Festival (London), Perth Festival (Australia) and has gone on a world-tour with Akram Khan and ensemble of distinguished artists from India and London to present “GIGENIS – the generation of the Earth”.
  • Hari, a First-Class Degree holder in Music (Performance) from the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) and has taken up the Gambus and the Viola as secondary instruments
  • Has been nominated and won multiple BOH Cameronian Awards for being a musician and a composer for a variety of projects within TFA and externally
  • Currently, Hari is one of the Music Directors, a Carnatic Violin and Vocal teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts, KUALA LUMPUR

Prakash Kandasamy

  • Prakash Kandasamy started learning tabla at the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur, at the age of 16 from Shri Suresh Ramachandra. He then later went to further his study of tabla in Pune India from Ustad Mohammed Hanif Mirajkar for 6 years.
  • He pursued his musical career by performing with the TFA orchestra as well as with local musicians like sitar artists Samuel J Das, Kumar Karthigesu, Kalpana Paranjothy, as well as Kathak dancers of the TFA. Prakash had also done collaborative work with pop artist Reshmonu as well as worked in Fusion ensembles like Inner Space, Prana, Swarasia and many more.
  • He has been teaching tabla at the TFA since the year 2000 and has had 6 of his students complete their Arangetrams with another student performing his Arangetram in June 2020. He was a part -time lecturer teaching tabla at ASWARA (The National Arts Academy) for 18 years and has had 4 students graduate as tabla players there
  • He has also been the recipient of National Awards like “Tokoh Seni Negeri Pulau Penang” in 2003 and “Anugerah Seni Negara” in 2006, and other awards ; 2“ Boh Cameronian Arts Awards” and “Datin Seri Endon Award for performing Arts Excellence” in 2009, 6 Gold medals at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles in the year 2006 and  the “SivaGopal Award” from The Temple of Fine Arts KUALA LUMPUR in 1990
  • In 2019 he received the Aryabhatta International Award 2018, in Bangalore, for his excellent contribution and services in the field of music (Tabla).

Eliezer Enan

  • Eliezer Enan is an established professional musician. He pursued his music degree in ASWARA, in Kuala Lumpur, majoring in music composition and arrangement.
  • Eliezer has been involved in music since his childhood days in school and churches where he developed a love for his favorite instrument the guitar.
  • Eliezer has vast experience of being a sessionist, composer, arranger, and a teacher in the music field
  • Eliezer is currently teaching guitar at the Temple of Fine Arts.

Srivaramangai Sadagopan

  • She has graduated with a B.COM, B.A (Music), M.A (Music) holder & is holding University first Rank holder (Gold Medalist) in B.A Music
  • Learned music under Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan and Shreya Devnath, currently learning under Sangita Kalanidhi Padmabhushan Dr. T. V. Gopalakrishnan.
  • She joined V.P Muthiah Pillai Meenakshi Ammal College for Women, Krishnankovil, Srivilliputtur. She has been teaching music under Fine Arts Club.
  • She has performed in Sri Ram Temple, Mumbai for a Festival during 2015, The Temple of Fine Arts, KUALA LUMPUR during The Tyagaraja Tansen Music Festival 2016 and 2017.
  • She has participated in the ‘Siddhi’ a Music Show in October 2017 & Tevaram show held in The Temple Of Fine Arts
  • Students were trained and coached under Srivaramangai’s guidance and they participated in ‘Swaralaya’, Tyagaraja Tansen Music Festival and Navaratri programmes 
  • Currently pursuing PH.d in Carnatic Music from Dr J Jayalalithaa University, Chennai and Post Graduate (Distance Education) course in Music Therapy from Nada Centre for Music Therapy, New Delhi.
  • Currently she is the Carnatic vocal teacher and a part of the Administration with the Temple of Fine Arts.

Jyotsna Prakash

  • Jyotsna Nithyanandan Prakash, PhD, is a Kuala Lumpur-based composer, performer, and educator at The Temple of Fine Arts, where her foundation was shaped by her mentor, Swami Shantanand Saraswati. Having recently completed her PhD in Performing Arts at Sunway University, she integrates academic rigour with a practice rooted in empathy and social engagement.
  • Her diverse portfolio includes commissions for the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) and MPYO, as well as collaborations with renowned artists such as Akram Khan (as orchestrator for Gigenis) and Mavin Khoo. Locally, she has worked extensively with premier ensembles including Rhythm in Bronze and Hands Percussion. An award-winning composer for Malaysian productions, Jyotsna has presented her work on global stages, including New York’s Lincoln Center.

Muthuraman Ganesan

  • Muthu is a dedicated percussionist known for his disciplined yet explorative approach to rhythm, firmly rooted in the classical traditions of Indian music.
  • His initiation into the art of percussion began at the age of 10, where he rendered accompaniment for devotional concerts, nurturing a deep reverence for laya
  • He completed his Mridangam Arangetram at The Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, and was conferred the title “Layanjali.”
  • He received his formal training under Sri Bangalore K. Ravishankar, a senior disciple of the legendary Mridangam maestro Guru Karaikudi R. Mani of Tamil Nadu, India.
  • Muthu has rendered accompaniment for numerous Bharatanatyam performances, Carnatic kutcheris, and fusion presentations, both locally and internationally.
  • He has played a significant role in the formation of The Pandavas Fusion Band, which actively performs for cultural, private, and corporate engagements.
  • A versatile percussionist, he is proficient in several instruments including: Mridangam, Kanjira, Djembe, Cajon, & Electronic Drum Pad
  • He has accompanied World Music Orchestras, musical dramas, and thematic productions, contributing both Mridangam and multi-percussion accompaniment with sensitivity and depth.
  • In recognition of his dedicated service and contribution to Bharatanatyam accompaniment, he was conferred the title “Muzhavu Vithagar” (Versatile Percussionist) in 2022.
  • In 2023, he was awarded the title “Mathangga Layamani”, acknowledging his explorative and refined approach to laya in Bharatanatyam presentations.
  • Alongside his commitment to performance and teaching, Muthu is an Accounting graduate.
  • He currently serves as the Director of Spice Asia Sdn. Bhd.

Bhuma Manoharan

  • Bhuma Manoharan was raised in the artistic sanctuary of The Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, where dance, Carnatic vocal music, and the veena shaped the rhythm of her childhood.
  • Even as she pursued medicine, music remained her quiet pulse — carrying her to Trinity College of Music, London, where she earned First Class Honours in Indian Music under Srimati Sivasakti Sivanesan, and later into the ancient tradition of Pann Isai under Oduvar Sami Dandapani, receiving the title Tevara Isaimani from the Aranarul Trust, Chennai.
  • Her musical journey continues under Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. T. V. Gopalakrishnan in vocal music and Srimati Vijayalakshmi Arumugam on the veena, for which she recently performed a solo entitled Padmaja.
  • A practising ophthalmologist, a gentle advocate for environmental care, and a passionate educator in both music and medicine, she balances healing, motherhood, and melody with quiet grace.
  • She currently teaches Carnatic vocal at the Temple of Fine Arts.

Kumar Karthigesu

  • Kumar first learnt the Sitar under Pandit Dharambir Singh in 1983 and subsequently under Ustad Usman Khan of Pune, India, since 1991.
  • Kumar has performed extensively and has travelled all over the world for performances.
  • Kumar teaches sitar in TFA in KL, Penang, and Johor Bahru.

Pangasaasanii Gowrisan

  • Pangasaasanii Gowrisan is a dedicated artiste trained in Dance, Vocal, and Carnatic Violin at The Temple of Fine Arts. Under the guidance of her revered Gurus — the late Shrimathi Valambikai Rajagopalan and Master Suresh Ramachandran — she made history in 2002 by becoming the first female in Malaysia to perform a Violin Arangetram. In 2009, she further honed her craft under Professor Dr. M. Narmadha in Chennai.
  • With over 3 decades of experience, Pangasaasanii is widely recognised as a distinguished and accomplished Carnatic Violinist. She has been a steadfast soloist and accompanist in numerous music and dance productions, both in Malaysia and internationally — in India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and also at the prestigious Darbar Festival 2019, in London.
  • Her works span across genres, from Indian Classical to Fusion and Film Music. In addition, Pangasaasanii has also been a recording artiste, contributing to various music projects and collaborations. Her expertise has also seen her serve as a judge in a number of music competitions.
  • Today, she is a proud member of the acclaimed Tyffin Box band and serves as a Carnatic Violin instructor at The Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur. A lifelong learner and passionate performer, Pangasaasanii brings depth, emotional resonance, and spiritual devotion to her music — preserving tradition and touching the hearts of her audience.

Pathmajothi Ganeshwaran

  • A refined and mellifluous vocalist in Carnatic music and Thevaram, she hails from a prominent Saivite family. Her early grounding in Tamil spirituality and music was shaped by her father, a highly learned and renowned Tamil scholar, and her mother, an ardent lover of Carnatic music, who together nurtured these values from a young age.
  • She received formal tutelage in Thevaram and Thirumurai under maestro Othuvaar Muthukumaraswamy Desigar of Vetharaniam, India, for a period of ten years. Her formal training in Carnatic vocal music was under the guidance of the late Vijayalectumy Kulaveerasingam.
  • She began her teaching career thereafter and, under her tutelage, has produced over ten Gold Medallists at the National Thirumurai Competition.
  • First Overall Champion and Gold Medallist at the National Thirumurai Competition organised by the Malaysian Hindu Sangam in 1982, Kuala Lumpur
  • Recipient of the Lifetime Arts Achievement Award from Sugam Karnatica (2023)
  • Recipient of the Thirumurai Chemmal Award by Pannieru Thirumurai Valarchi Maiyam (2024)
  • She currently conducts Thevaram classes at the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur, Sri Kandaswamy Temple Brickfields, Sri Subramaniya Swami Temple Kajang, Sri Kasi Visvanathan Swamy Temple Bangsar and also via online classes.

Pradip Bahadur Dangol

  • Started his music path in 1981 under Guruji Satyanarayan Chaudhari student of Ustaz Ahmad Jaan Thirakwa Saheb.
  • Between 1992-1993, he did a stint in Singapore with Ghazal group, in 1996 with the Malaysia Bollywood music group
  • He has worked with Radio Nepal, Nepal Television and various recording studios from 1986-1988
  • In 1997 he toured Hong Kong, and Brunei with Nepali Cultural group.
  • From 2003 he has been teaching Tabla in Sri Dasmesh International school
  • Currently he is teaching table at the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur

Priyanka Nair

Swathi Sivadas

  • Swathi Sivadas holds a Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons) (Western) UCSI University Kuala Lumpur (2016) (Piano Major)
  • She completed Grade 8 Piano with Distinction (Trinity College London) (2007)
  • She was a finalist at the Roland Piano Festival Kuala Lumpur (Classical Piano Duet Category) (2008)
  • Swathi is also a Bharathanatyam (2007) & Odissi (2017) graduate of the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur
  • She has experience in Bollywood, Indian Folk & Kathak dance styles as well as Theatre Acting
  • Swathi played lead roles in “Meera : The Splendour of Love Divine” (2010) & “Sand” by the Indigo Soul Project (2015)
  • She has performed at several prestigious events locally and internationally, namely the Konark Festival in Odisha (2017). Her other performances include ensemble and solo capacities for the shows Pravasana, Hrdaya, Reflections and Divertimento to name a few
  • She currently teaches Piano at the Temple of Fine Arts

Darmen Krisnan

  • Darmen Krisnan hails from a family of musicians and his early exposure in playing the mridangam from the tender age of five has given him the boost to be where he is today
  • Darmen as he is fondly known got his strong foundation in playing the mridangam from his uncles, Sri Hari Chandran Panjanathan and Sri Suresh Kumar Panjanathan.With such training, Darmen took off on his own and continued advance training under Guru sri Bangalore K Ravishankar disciple of Guru Karaikudi Mani at the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur
  • Darmen completed his arangetram in the year 2013 at TFA. Throughout these years of training, he also performed for karnatic katcheri’s, music & dance productions, arangetrams, locally and abroad.
  • He is currently teaching mridangam at the Temple of Fine Arts and Sugam Karnatica

Abbirami Balachandran

  • Abbirami started learning the violin at the age of 9 under the tutelage of Shrimathi Kanagamani Vijendra at the Temple of Fine Arts, KUALA LUMPUR.
  • Within a year of learning the violin, she had the opportunity to perform at the Rotary Club, PJ where it garnered numerous constructive compliments.
  • Following that, Abbirami participated in countless performances within TFA branches in Malaysia, including numerous major TFA productions such as:

  • Up to date, Abbirami has performed in many occasions in both locally and internationally (Singapore, Australia and India).
  • She is currently teaching the violin at the Temple of Fine Arts, KUALA LUMPUR

Prajindra Sankar Krishnan

  • Prajindra Sankar Krishnan is a sitarist who graduated from the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur in 2018. He has been actively involved in teaching sitar at TFA since 2020, contributing to the nurturing of young musicians and the continuation of the Hindustani classical tradition.
  • Under the lifelong guidance of his revered guru, Shri Kumar Kartigesu, Prajindra has developed a strong foundation in both performance and pedagogy, blending traditional discipline with contemporary performance contexts.
  • He has performed at numerous prestigious concerts and cultural events, including the IGARSS Award Banquet held on 21st July 2022 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur (in collaboration with ASWARA), Arts on the Move by Think City & Rapid KL at Masjid Jamek, Kuala Lumpur, the ASEAN Leaders Show on 5th August 2015, and the Tyagaraja–Tansen Festival at the Temple of Fine Arts.
  • His other notable performances include the Navaratri Celebrations at the Temple of Fine Arts, Swami Shantanand’s Birthday Shows in Johor Bahru, the Penang Heritage Festival Sitar Ensemble on 2nd July 2022, and Ustad Usman Khan’s 75th Birthday Celebration in Pune, India, in December 2015.

Laynisha

  • Laynisha began her journey in Sitar at the age of 13, enrolling at the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA), Kuala Lumpur.
  • Since then, she has been under the guidance of her Guru, Shrimathi Kalpana Paranjothy, with whom she continues her training to this day.
  • Laynisha has participated in numerous performances in TFA, as well as major productions such as “Pranati” (2016) and “Artist Dream” (2025). She has also had the opportunity to perform at TFA Johor Bahru and Singapore.
  • In 2018, she had the honour of accompanying Ustad Usman Khan, performing opening pieces for his concerts in Kulim, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur.

  • Kalpana Paranjothy is a skilled Hindustani Sitar player who started her training under Dr Subramony at The Temple of Fine Arts KL and later studied under Ustad Usman Khan in India.
  • She has been teaching Sitar at The Temple of Fine Arts in Kuala Lumpur since 2006 and performed with major Malaysian orchestras.
  • Kalpana has created and performed works like Hrdaya and ASLI – Resonance in Our Roots.
  • With an M.Phil in Music Composition from Trinity College Dublin, she now teaches Sitar and performs in Sydney.

Sveta Kilpady

Sveta started learning Hindustani classical music at the age ofthree from Pandit Jialal Vasant, Shrimati Manik Bhide & Thumrisfrom Dr. Aneeta Sen. She now takes guidance in Purab ang Gayaki Thumri from Smt.Manju Sundaram of Banaras.She is an Architect graduate from Mumbai University

Shuwehtha Premkumar

Shuwehtha started learning Sangeetham & Veena at the age of three from her mother & guru, Acharya Ratna Shrimati Jayalakshmi Premkumar. At the age of 12 years, she completed her veena arangetram in Seremban and was the youngest person in the country to have performed the arangetram.

Ravindra Shetty

  • Hailing from a family of luminary artists. Ravi Shetty is the progeny of the famous maestro of dance the late Master Gopal Shetty, the International President and Director of The Temple of Fine Arts, a premier cultural Institution in Malaysia. He started his dance journey at the age of 15 under the tutelage of his father, Master Gopal Shetty and continued his dance training under Shrimati Vasuki and did arangetram under the guidance of Guru Suryakala.
  • His progress and disciplined training culminated in the rendition of his arangetram (maiden /graduation performance) in 1990 winning the adulation of his peers and the audience. He started tutoring Bharatanatyam from 1989 till today.
  • Ravi has performed in numerous shows and productions conducted by the Temple of Fine Arts such as Ramayana, Swan Lake, Mahsuri, Lady White Snake, Odissi, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakuntala and many more.
  • He possesses a wide repertoire of performance experience over the last 2 decades and very much admired for his versatility as a dancer and his hallmark in his ability to adapt to any style of dance be it classical, modern, folk, Chinese or Malay
  • He is currently teaching Bharatanatyam at the Temple Of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur.
  • Being endowed with a natural gift for dance and a flair for teaching, he is currently a teacher of Bharatanatyam and Folk dance at the Temple of Fine Arts which he executes with much passion and dedication.

Dhanya Thurairajah

  • Dhanya Thurairajah is a dancer and holistic healer – whose artistic journey began at the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur in the 1980s. Trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, and contemporary dance, Dhanya draws from the diverse fields she has worked in over the years to weave together meaningful connection and a sense of wholeness into all that she does.
  • A pivotal moment in her life was performing the lead role in Butterfly Lovers, a dance drama that toured internationally to critical acclaim. As a founding member of the Inner Space Performing Arts Company, Dhanya was part of the award-winning Inside Out ensemble.
  • Alongside her medical degree, Dhanya has trained with Pandit Birju Maharaj, Mavin Khoo, Umesh Shetty, Geeta Shankaran, Bijayini Sathpathi, Akram Khan and worked with many leading choreographers. A recipient of the Anugerah Seni Negara for Dance, she continues to teach, perform, and serve the community by bridging the worlds of art and medicine with grace and quiet power.
  • Dhanya is currently training with Master Santa from Nepal in the art of sound healing and with  Master Komathy in the art of Reiki healing as she continues on her journey of pursuing the connection between art, medicine and holistic healing.

Vishaka Devi Rajasingam

    • Vishaka Devi is an educator by profession, holding a Master’s degree, and currently works as a school teacher. She has been a dedicated student of the Temple of Fine Arts since the age of ten. She began her formal training in Bharatanatyam under the loving guidance of Shrimathi Shymala Narayanan and was conferred the sacred title of “Nrityanjali” upon her graduation in 2009.
    • Her deep passion for the performing arts inspired her to broaden her artistic horizons by training in various classical and contemporary styles, including Odissi, Kathak, Contemporary dance, and drama.She is currently furthering her artistic journey by learning Nattuvangam and actively engaging in choreography.
    • Over the years, Vishaka has performed extensively in numerous Temple of Fine Arts productions, both locally and internationally. Some of the notable productions she has been part of include Bullock Cart, Kaadhambari, Vishwa Vinayaka, Reflections, Chalo Shaadi Karenge, The Swan Festival of Lights, and the Shantanand Festival of Arts, among many others.
    • Currently, she is a part-time Bala Vihar and Bharatanatyam teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts.

Vatsala Sivadas

Vatsala Sivadas is a pioneering Bharatanatyam exponent, choreographer, and cultural icon in Malaysia. Beginning her illustrious career after her arangetram in 1953 under the guidance of her guru and husband, the late V. K. Sivadas, she co-founded the Sivadas-Vatsala Dance Troupe in 1957, formalising the teaching of Indian classical dance across Malaysia. Celebrated for performances at national and royal events, she represented Malaysia internationally and was featured in a 1959 film by the Malayan Film Unit (now National Film Development Corporation Malaysia). In 1963, she co-presented Salangai, the first Indian cultural programme on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Inspired by His Holiness Swami Shantanand Saraswathi, a revered Hindu monk from India, Vatsala and her husband V. K. Sivadas, together with Gopal and Radha Shetty, co-founded the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur in 1981, where she continues as Senior Director and Principal Choreographer, mentoring generations of dancers.

Key Achievements & Contributions:

  • Performed at national events, royal installations, and for visiting dignitaries including the Shah of Iran, Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi and U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.
  • International performances in Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, the UK, and Australia.
  • Featured in the 1959 Malayan Film Unit production and on early Malaysian television (Salangai, 1963).
  • Choreographed landmark dance dramas for the Temple of Fine Arts including Swan Lake, Lady White Snake, Premanjali, Shakuntala, Ramayana – An ASEAN Confluence, and Sundera Keralam – in honour of her husband, V. K. Sivadas.
  • Honoured with Malaysia’s Tokoh Orang Hidup Warisan (Living Heritage Treasure), multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards, Nrityacharya title, and Gaandharva Kalaanjali for four decades of dedicated service.

Shyamala Narayanan

  • At the age of 7, with her mother’s encouragement she trained under Shrimathi Shanta Dhananjayan from Kalashketra and performed her arangetram in 1966
  • She has been tutoring in the Temple Of Fine Arts branch in Singapore from 1983-1986 and continues to teacher in Kuala Lumpur ever since.
  • Shyamala has also contributed as a part time lecturer in Aswara from 2004 to May 2018; besides taking charge of overall design and making of costumes for all dance productions and shows at the Temple Of Fine Arts.
  •  She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from University of London
  • She won BOH Awards for costume in 2003 and 2004.
  • Currently, she hopes to continue guiding and molding students in Bharathanathyam at the Temple Of Fine arts to pursue their journey in the arts independently.

Shankar Kandasamy

  • Shankar Kandasamy’s involvement in the growth and progress of his dance path with this Institution since its inception in 1981. He has the unique gift of being able to imbibe the essence of different dance styles by observation. He is also exposed in Odissi, Kathak, Folk and Indian contemporary, not to mention his impressive skills in Karnatic Music and Nattuvangam
  • His initial training in Indian classical and folk styles at the Temple of Fine Arts ( TFA ) had given him a firm and sound foundation and being blessed with innate talent, it was sufficient to launch him as an extraordinary choreographer
  • He is also trained in Odissi, Western Classical Ballet and other regional classical styles of India. This gives him a rich vocabulary of dance which he uses in choreography. Shankar has been one of the key choreographers in all major Dance Drama productions of the Temple of Fine Arts internationally and internally.
  • In 2007, Shankar made his solo debut in Chennai at the Besant Nagar Vinayagar Temple under the Krishnanjali Trust. This was attended and applauded by some of the great names in the field, namely Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman, Prof. C.V. Chandrashekhar, Smt Shantha Dhananjayan, Ms Jayalakshmi of Kalakshetra and others, all of whom were very impressed with his standard of dance and creative ingenuity.
  • To date he has conducted more than 100 Arangetrams (debut presentations of Bharatanatyam graduates of TFA ). He never compromises when it comes to quality and is very passionate about ensuring very high standards for the students, to make their learning challenging and rewarding.
  • He heads the Bharata Natyam faculty of The Temple of Fine Arts Malaysia, where he was trained and continues to serve as Artistic Director, Choreographer and Performer
  • He has completed his Masters in Fine Arts at the Bharathidasan University and is currently employed rolled for PhD at the Tanjore Tamil University
  • He was awarded the prestigious Arya Bhatta Award of excellence from Bangalore in 2015 and received the BOH Cameronian Award for Best Choreographer for a Full-length Feature Production in 2018.
  • Shankar has travelled extensively to the USA, the UK and Europe conducting workshops and solo performances. His annual workshops in Bangalore, Mumbai and other cities of India have been attended substantially by senior dancers as well as upcoming performers.
  • He has received the Anugerah Adi Guru from ASWARA IN 2024 for his services as a senior Bharata Natyam teacher who has contributed immensely to the propagation of this Artform in Malaysia.
  • He received the Natya Acharya Mani from IPAC Indian Performing Arts Convention in Singapore under the Apsaras Dance Company for his contribution as senior teacher of the artform
  • In 2025 he received two awards in Chennai during the Dec Season. The Natya Kala Mani Award from Trinity Arts Chennai and the Sathya Natana Ratna Sundaram from Bharathanjali Trust Chennai.
  • In 2026 he was the Choreographer for 800 dancers who welcomed the PM of India Hon Narendra Modiji with a piece entitled Swagatham Vasudaiva Kutumbakam. The Indian High Commission to Malaysia and the Indian Cultural Centre honoured him for this creative work for the mega event.

Shonabushani Velusamy

  • Shona has been a devoted student of the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, for over a decade. She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of eight under Shrimathi Shyamala Narayanan and was conferred the sacred title of Nrityanjali in 2009.
  • She later trained in Odissi under Shrimathi Geetha Shankaran-Lam, and subsequently with Shrimathi Sumathi Chandra and Shrimathi Gowri Chandran, enriching her foundation in Indian classical dance.
  • Her Kathak journey began under Shrimathi Vidhya Nagendran, Shrimathi Nadina Krishnan, and Kumari Dhanya Thurairajah — disciples of the legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj. She currently continues her Kathak training under Shrimathi Nadina Krishnan. In 2025, she presented her Kathak solo production, Anvesana in Kathak, which was nominated for the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2026.
  • Beyond classical dance, Shona trained in Contemporary dance under Shri Umesh Shetty and studied Drama under Shri Lam Ghooi Ket, strengthening her stagecraft and performance versatility. She has performed extensively in Temple of Fine Arts productions locally and internationally, and was formerly a member of the Inner Space Dance Company.
  • Alongside her artistic journey, she works professionally in Talent Acquisition and currently serves as a part-time Kathak teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, nurturing students with strong fundamentals and a deep respect for tradition while continuing her own artistic growth.

Sumathi Chandra

  • Sumathi Chandra has a teaching degree from Nanyang technological University of Singapore. Though a teacher by profession she had a great passion for dance and therefore began her dance journey in 1991 at Kala Mandhir (Temple of Fine Arts Singapore).
  • In 1995 she completed her Bharathanatyam arangetram which was just 4 years of mastering the art under the tutelage of Srimathi Guruvayur Usha Dorai. This reflects her passion and dedication. In Singapore she had performed in numerous TV programs and many other occasions.
  • She had also participated in dance dramas like Ramayana, Sundera Keralam , Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakunthala to name a few and also took on major roles. She started learning Odissi under Srimathi Geetha Shankaran Lam and completed her Manchpravesh in 2001 under her tutelage. She also had the privilege of learning from Padmashri Durga Charan Ranbir. Her dance career started in KL mainly with the Garland tours that was staged all over Malaysia.
  • This Garland tour paved the way for Sumathi to perform many genres of dance such as Bharathanatyam, Odissi, Folk, Chinese, Malay and Bollywood. She has travelled extensively to India, Sri Lanka , Australia and United States for performances. She also performed in many Ministry shows such as Tari, Citrawarna and Apec.
  • She has conducted Manchapravesh for 7 Odissi students. She has also staged shows such as Samashraya, Diksha, Dvitva, Padma Purush and Pragati. Sumathi has been under the tutelage of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, the son of the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra from 2013. Under his tutelage she has further enhanced the nuances of the Odissi art form. She has obtained a post graduate degree (Sangeet Visharad) from Pracheen Kalakendra University for Odissi dance.
  • She is currently teaching Odissi at the Temple Of Fine Arts, imparting the Guru Kelucharan style of Odissi to numerous number of students.

Vasuki Thiruchittampalam

    • Vasuki began studying dance at the age of six from Guru Bhaskar in Singapore. She continued her dance classes with Padmini Dance School for 3 years and following this, she continued under the tutelage of the Thiruchandur sisters.
    • Her desire to further her love of dance took her to the Dhananjayans of the Bharata Kalanjali in Chennai where she culminated with her arangetram in 1976. She then continued her classes with Guru Krishna Kumari.
    • She started teaching at The Temple of Fine Arts in 1983 and continues to do so until today. Vasuki has also been a part time lecturer at ASWARA from 2004 to 2018.
    • She has performed, trained, choreographed and coordinated various performances for corporate & government functions.
    • To date she has conducted 60 Arangetrams (debut presentations of Bharatanatyam graduates of TFA) where 7 of them were ASWARA students.
    • She was part of the team that has received BOH Cameroonian Awards.
    • Vasuki aims to inspire and motivate her students to find joy in this beautiful art form just as she did when she started her dance journey at the age of six. Her happiness is when her students take the initiative to excel or to persevere to the best of their ability in this art form.

Thavamalar Gunaratnam

  • Malar’s dance career commenced in 1952 with Sivadas Vatsala Dance Troup as one of their principal dancers.
  • She had participated in several dance drama productions and performances of Sivadas Vatsala Dance troupe and The Temple Of Fine Arts since 1981
  • Had the privilege of performing before with great dignitaries both within the country and overseas
  • Her passion and fervor for dance never waxed and waved and to date remains very inspired, she considers the arts as a healing therapy that nourishes the soul, retains one’s sanity and enrich one’s life.
  • Had been a member of the teaching staff at the dance faculty since 1981 with more than 50 years of teaching experience
  • She is also an instrumental in developing and structuring the Bharathanatyam theory syllabus along with her colleagues and ensuring its implementation as well as teaching dance
  • Malar has also taught Bharathanatyam at Aswara acdemic and served as the examiner for practical examination.
  • Assumes responsibilities to oversee the implementation of dance student’s assessments along with faculty staff. She also has a keen interest to develop and design the Bharathanatyam dance curriculum with the input of the Head of Department

Radha Gopal Shetty

  • Radha Shetty started her dance career and graduated in Bharathanatyam under Sri Gopal Shetty’s tutelage and eventually became a member of the ‘Gopal Shetty Dance Company since her teen years.
  • For 7 years she performed intensively in all the cultural events in the country, private and governmental, appeared in Shetty’s production like ‘Sita Swayamvaram’ , ‘Sita Haran’ , ‘Sidhaartha’ , Solidarity, television serials ‘Serbaneka’ , ‘Diana’ , ‘Pushpawanita’ , Tunku Abdul Rahman’s Show and worked with Radio Malaysia Team and learned the malay dance style such as the Joget, Zapin, Inang and others. She also performed in front of dignitaries like Doland Macilvry, Duke of Edinburg, Queen Elisabeth and Prime Minister of India, Karunanithi.
  • She has participated in successful dance tours in Japan, India and many more countries. She has been teaching Bharathanatyam ever since 1981 and graduated over 12 students under her tutelage. She is one of the Dance Directors of the Temple of Fine Arts.
  • At the age of 60 her dream came true and she learned Odissi for two years mastering the nuances of Odissi and she have performed few pieces on Navarathri festival and on her guru’s birthday celebration in Chennai.
  • At the Temple of Fine Arts, Vatsala along with Sivadas, Gopal Shetty and Radha Shetty choreographed all the major dance drama productions produced by Swami Shantanand Saraswathi who selected themes loved by different communities and gave each an interesting interpretation like “Swan Lake”, “Lady White Snake”, “Mahsuri” (full length dance dramas) and “Artist’s Dream” (a short poetic contemplation of fantasy and reality).
  • In July, The Temple of Fine Arts International honored her with the title J i v i t a K a l a S e v a. The award was presented by Pandit Birju Maharaj, who at present is the leading exponent of the Kathak style of dance in India. She has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 by BOH Cameroniam Arts Award. She has also been awarded Lifetime Arts Achievement Award by Sugam Cultural & Heritage Foundation in 2019.
  • Currently Srimathi Ratha Shetty is teaching Bharatanatyam at the Temple of Fine Arts.

Presand G

  • Presand graduated in Bharathanatyam at the Temple of Fine Arts in 2016
  • He is very passionate about dance and has demonstrated keen interest in teaching the theory of dance and has participated excessively in many Temple Of Fine Arts dance productions.
  • Frequently travelling across ASEAN for energy-efficiency consultations, he ensures time is made for his dance classes, ever keen to learn & perform in aid of Temple of Fine Arts.
  • As a disciple of Shri J.T. Choong, he adopted his guru’s habit of ever-learning & currently pursuing Creative Dance under the same tutelage.
  • Since 2018, he has been a teacher of the Temple of Fine Arts under the Bharatantyam: Theory Department under guidance from Shri Malar Gunaratnam & Shri Gowri Ramachandran.

Sri Kisha Subramaniam

  • Sri Kisha started learning Bharatanatyam at the tender at of 5 under the loving guidance of Shrimathi Vasuki Sivanesan. She graduated in 2009 and was awarded the title Nirthyanjali.
  • Kisha also learnt Odissi under Shrimathii Geetha Shankaran Lam, Kathak under the tutelage of Shrimati Nadina Krishnan and Sitar under the tutelage of Shri Kumar Kartigesu and later on Dr Subramony.
  • She has been teaching Bharatanatyam in temple of fine art KL and Melaka since 2011.
  • She has taken part of many International and local dance drama production such as Ramayana, Midsummer night’s Dream, Taj Mahal, Vishwa Vinayaka, Kadhambari, to name a few.
  • She has also played a key role in organizing The Shantanand Festival of Arts for the last 4 years as well as many other festivals and events such as Dance India Taste India and Founders’s Day.
  • Apart of being a Bharatanatyam teacher at TFA KL, She is also the Assistant Secretary of Temple of Fine Arts KL Management Board
  • She is a qualified Doctor and has been serving in the government hospitals since 2009. She is currently pursuing her specialization in Oncology. She also volunteers at the SivaSanta medical Clinic a free clinic by the Temple of Fine Arts

Kishore Kumar Krishnan

  • Born in 1990, he began his journey as a dedicated athlete and soccer player.
    In his late teens, he transitioned fully into dance, committing himself to rigorous artistic training.
  • He trained in Bharatanatyam at the Temple of Fine Arts under Shrimathi Bhanumathi Krishnan and Shrimathi Vasuki Sivanesan.
    He presented his Bharatanatyam solo debut (Arangetram) in 2013 under Shri Shankar Kandasamy.
  • At age 20, he began training in Ballet and Contemporary under Umesh Shetty.
    In 2013, he completed his Diploma in Dance at ASWARA.
  • He was a dancer with ASK Dance Company for three years under Joseph Gonzales.
    His performances included Dance Teens (Hong Kong, 2011), Women on Top (2012), The White Bat (2012), and Coppélia(2013) to name a few.
  • He graduated with a BFA in Dance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2015.
    He later completed his Honours degree in 2017 with Link Dance Company, touring major festivals across Europe.
  • He interned with Zfin Malta under Mavin Khoo and with Co3 Dance.
    In 2016, he attended classes and rehearsals with the Akram Khan Company during the Kaash
  • In 2019, he performed at the Darbar Festival at Sadler’s Wells.
    Working with Mavin Khoo and Akram Khan.
  • Between 2014-2023, He worked as an Artist with InnerSpace Dance Company under Umesh Shetty and performed locally and internationally, Australia, San Francisco, India to name a few.
  • He performed in Rite of Spring with Seeta Patel Dance during the 2023 UK Tour.
    The production continued to Italy (Teatro Comunale, Vicenza, 2025) and an outdoor festival in Brussels (2025).
  • In 2025, he premiered The Fates with Seeta Patel Dance Company.
    He also performed at the 7th Edition India-International Ramayana Mela in Delhi (2024).
  • As a choreographer, he created Some Point of Motion (Shantanand Festival of Arts 2023; JAMU 2024).
    He also created Within My Mind, nominated for Best Group Performance at the BOH Cameronian Awards 2023.
  • He won the Artistic Director’s Award for The Loss of Detail at the Short + Sweet Competition 2024.
    He choreographed Experience, Experiment, Expectations for PETA’s 2024 graduating performance.
  • He served as Artistic Lead for the Shantanand Festival of Arts 2024.
    In December 2024, he participated in the Lakshya Residency with Bijayini Satpathy.
  • In 2025, he performed in Raagas and Mudras with the Temple of Fine Arts in collaboration with Dewan Philharmonik Petronas.
    He currently serves as a Part-time Lecturer at ASWARA and University Malaya, and as a Full-time Teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur.
  • A performer with Seeta Patel Dance (UK), he continues to evolve as an artist.
  • His work explores contrasts of speed and stillness, breath and intensity, and animalistic movement qualities.

Nadina Krishnan

  • Nadina Krishnan began her dance journey at the age of four, training in Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Shrimathi Vatsala Sivadas.
  • Driven to expand her artistic vocabulary, she pursued Odissi under the guidance of Shrimathi Geetha Shankaran-Lam at The Temple of Fine Arts. In 2007, she had the rare privilege of training under Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj, deepening her engagement with the classical tradition.
  • A seasoned performer, Nadina has appeared extensively in The Temple of Fine Arts’ landmark dance drama productions, including Ramayana, Odissi Odyssey, Lady White Snake, Taj Mahal, Swan Lake, Shakuntala, Butterfly Lovers, and Vishwa Vinayaka, touring internationally.
  • She further broadened her movement language through Contemporary dance studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), before returning to Malaysia to continue her artistic development under the guidance of Guru Umesh Shetty. Her creative contributions include contemporary segments in Butterfly Lovers, Shakuntala, In the Park, and Raging River Merging Sea. She also assisted in choreographing the duet for Istana Budaya’s English production of The Legend of Mahsuri and was featured as a solo artist in Moon – Essence of Woman.
  • In 2017, Nadina presented her Kathak solo ‘Sadhana’ under the guidance of Guru Paramita Maitra and Guru Umesh Shetty. She was also part of TFA Inner Space Dance Company’s production ‘Inside Out’, which received eight nominations at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, and ‘Conversations’. Most recently, she oversaw the artistic journey of the Kathak solo presentation “Anvesaana’, performed by Shonabushani V under the guidance of Guru Paramita Maitra, which has been nominated for the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2026.

Vinitha Balrama

  • Vinitha Balrama is a dedicated Bharatanatyam educator and performing artist based in Kuala Lumpur, currently serving as an instructor at the Temple of Fine Arts KL. Alongside her teaching, she remains an active stage performer, deeply committed to nurturing both kids and adult students.
  • Initiated into Bharatanatyam by her late guru, Shyamala Narayanan, Vinitha continues to refine her dance under the guidance of Shri Shankar Kandasamy. She completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 2018 and was conferred the title Nrithyanjali, marking a significant milestone in her classical dance path.
  • A graduate of ASWARA and Universiti of Malaya, Vinitha has broadened her interest in different dance genres through training in Odissi, Kathak, Contemporary, Malay, Chinese and various Folk dance traditions. Her dedication to excellence earned her 1st Prize in Odissi at Pratibha Sangam 2022 and 2nd Prize in 2023. In recognition of her expressive mastery in Indian classical dance, she was honoured with Bharata Abhinaya Kalaichelvi and Natya Thilakam in 2025 after completing her solo performances.
  • She is deeply passionate about dance and demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching the theory of Bharatanatyam to her Stage 1 and Stage 2 students. Since 2024, she has been a teacher of the Temple of Fine Arts under the Bharatantyam: Dance Department under guidance from Shri Shankar Kandasamy and Theory Department from Shri Malar Gunaratnam & Shri Gowri Ramachandran.
  • She has actively participated in numerous Temple of Fine Arts dance productions, both in Malaysia and internationally. Vinitha has performed across Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, India, Guadeloupe (France), and Guam (USA). She continues to evolve as a performer while balancing her commitment to teaching and sharing the richness of Bharatanatyam with the next generation at the Temple of Fine Arts.
